Question

Welcome to the Pops again! Can you tell us about your latest track, 'Don't Wanna Lose This Feeling'?

Answer

It's a really up and poppy tune, with a great dance beat! The most exciting thing about it for me though is that we did a bootleg of it with an old Madonna track, 'Into The Groove'. She loved it and said we should go for it. So now I'm here! That's it for me now. I've followed her since I was a really young teenager. I've never met her, but I think I'd be too scared to!

Question

You've had loads of hits already, so is it still as important to you get to No.1?

Answer

As you get further down the line with each single, it actually matters more that it's a hit. It's got more and more fun for me. When I first started releasing tracks in the UK, I was really young. Fresh from Australia, I didn't really know who I was yet. Now, I've been living here for ages, I'm more comfortable with everything. I'm totally into the groove of the UK now and I don't feel I have to worry so much.

Question

Obviously you started out as an actress and you've created your own clothes designs. Which of your careers do you like the most?

Answer

Performers always do end up doing quite few different things; soap opera actors are always popping up in films or releasing singles. It's actually a very small market in showbiz and there's few opportunities, so you kinda learn to be jack of all trades. I've always enjoyed the diversity of my career and just kept doing as much as I could. I didn't expect all areas of my career to keep going, but they have, so I've been really lucky.

Question

Do any of the ex-soap stars, like Delta Goodrem, ever ask your advice?

Answer

Not really. A lot of Ozzie soap stars come and go through the UK. Very few stick together though. Kylie, Natalie and I have stayed very good friends and we ask each other for advice obviously. I think everyone assumes that us Ozzies all know one another though and we don't! Even when someone like Delta comes to the Pops, it's rare that we'd cross paths. I'm happy to be mother hen and dish out advice though if someone wants to listen!

Question

So, be honest, is it a help or hindrance being Kylie's sister?

Answer

[laughs] It's really hard for me to be objective as to whether it's bad for me to have the surname 'Minogue'. In some instances it's great and in others it's bad. Everyone wants to be accepted on their own merit. It was really difficult when I first came to the UK. People were negative about me, claiming I was trying to ride on my sister's success. But, it's been over a decade that I've had a presence at the top of the charts and I think people are more accepting of me now. It's getting easier that's for sure!
